ICANN works in conjunction with registry operators including Verisign Inc., Neustar, DotAsia and numerous others to operate the the gTLD’s of the internet.
Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), established in 1998, is a not for profit organisation operating from the United States with a number of global offices. They co-ordinate many aspects of the what one could term the internet backbone, to ensure its continued stable and stable operation. These functions include management of the root DNS servers, IP allocations and global Top Level Domain management (gTLD) to name a few.
After months of hard work, in March 2012 Nexigen Digital officially received ICANN accreditation. For us, this means we can now work with the registry operators to allow us to become an official registrar for gTLD extensions such as .com, .net, .biz, .org and many more. This is a huge step forward as there are few ICANN accredited registrars in Australia at this time, allowing us to develop a market of low cost domains with high functionality systems to enhance the web experience
