Nexigen Digital, the largest independent domain name registrar in Australia, has today announced the acquisition of 9web, a boutique web hosting and domain name reseller. Based in New South Wales, 9web has more than 1,500 customers and some 3,000 active services.
Nexigen Digital Chief Executive Officer, Angelo Giuffrida, said the acquisition would be great for both his company and 9web customers who will benefit from additional services and improved customer engagement.
“The 9web deal represents a clean acquisition for us and we will immediately realise cost benefits from transferring the customers to our DELL cloud infrastructure while being able to offer 24/7 customer service and technical support”.
“9web has an excellent reputation with its customers and we plan to continue that relationship”, said Mr. Giuffrida.
9web will cease trading as a separate business unit and all existing customers and services will be migrated to VentraIP Australia and the VIPControl customer management interface.
The current owner of 9web, Ben Letchford, said he was pleased with the acquisition and had no doubt his customers were in good hands.
“There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that Nexigen Digital will always go that extra mile, that extra bit of service and support, which I couldn’t give to my customers. I’ve had a great time building this business and learnt many new skills, and I look forward to continuing my career as a software engineer”.
Mr Giuffrida has indicated that further acquisitions were in the pipeline and that industry consolidation was well underway.
“With the recent acquisitions of NetRegistry Group and Uber Global by MelbourneIT and Web24 by j2 Global, it’s clear that industry consolidation is taking place. We’re proud to be the largest independent domain name registrar in the market and will continue to seek small to mid-size acquisition targets to grow our customer base and revenue”.
The 9web acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
